The Tipperary Post Primary Schools 1st Year Futsal blitz took place on Friday, 4 December in Colaiste Mhuire Co. Ed impressive ‘Dome’ Facility in Thurles.
10 teams representing 6 schools took part in the blitz that’s now in its second year.
A place in the Munster Finals in UCC, Cork taking place on the 19 January awaited the winners of the girls and boys sections.
The boys section consisted of two groups. Group 1 consisted of Colaiste Mhuire (A), High School Clonmel, CBS Carrick and St. Josephs Borrisoleigh (B). Last year’s Tipperary and Munster Champions the High School Clonmel won this group in very impressive fashion with CBS Carrick coming second.
In Group 2 Colaiste Mhuire (B), Scoil Ruain Killenalue and St Josephs Borrisoleigh competed for semi final spots. St Josephs came out on top with Scoil Ruain second.
The semi finals saw the High School v Scoil Ruain and St Joseph’s v CBS Carrick. The High School were once again very impressive accounting for Scoil Ruain 4 – 1.The second game was a much tighter affair with two late goals from CBS Carrick ending St Joseph’s run in the competition.
The Final saw the High School continue their impressive record in the competition defeat CBS Carrick 2-0. They ended the day scoring 15 and conceded just 2 goals; on this form they are sure to make an impression in the Munster Finals.

The Girls group consisted of Colaiste Mhuire, Scoil Ruain and last year’s champions Presentation, Thurles. The Presentation ran out winners of the girls section being led very impressively by their excellent captain Jane Anne McKevitt. The Presentation ended the day winning all their games scoring 17 and without conceded a goal.

This tournament was a great success and on behalf of the FAI we would like to thank all those schools that competed, to Colaiste Mhuire Co. Ed for again providing their wonderful facility for the event and to all the referees from the school who also assisted.
All their help was greatly appreciated. Finally we would like to wish Presentation Thurles and the High School Clonmel the best of luck in the Munster Finals.
