A very successful girls' competition was held on March 23 in Ballymahon. 21 Teams competed in the day long event.
Scoil Mhuire, Newtownforbes won their two games to proceed to the North Leinster Finals as Section B Cup winners.
There was keen competition in the Girls' “A” Cup Section. Melview A secured top spot in Group 2 with three wins. Cloontagh won Group 2 which earned them a playoff spot against Melview C. Ardagh won their group and reached a playoff against Ballymahon from Group 6.

Cloontagh 3-0 Melview C
Ardagh 2-0 Ballymahon
Semi Final Results:
Cloontagh 3 -0 Melview A
Ardagh 1-1
(Ardagh won 3-2 on penalties after extra time)
9 teams took part in the Boys' “A” Cup Section. Group winners were Ballinalee “B”, Kenagh “A” and Abbeylara “A”.
Kenagh “A” defeated Ballinalee 2 -1 to reach the Final against Abbeylara “A”.
20 teams participated in the Boys “B” Cup Section on Tuesday April 13 in Ballymahon. Group winners were Stonepark “A”, Colehill “B”, Melview “C”, Edgeworthstown “A” and Colmcille.
Playoff Result: Colehill “B” 3-0 Melview “C”.
Semi Final Results:
Mostrim “A” 2-2 Colmcille
Teams were level after extra time and a most extraordinary penalty shootout followed with scores level at 5 all after all eight players had taken a penalty each! Finally Edgeworthstown “A” won 6 to 5.
Melview “A” 4-1 Colehill “B”
The finals in all competitions were held in Flancare Park on April 15

Girls' A Cup: Ardagh 4-1 Cloontagh
Boys' A Cup: Abbeylara 1-1 Kenagh (Abbeylara won 2- 1 on penalties after extra time)
Boys' B Cup: Melview 4-3 Edgeworthstown
We are very grateful to the staff at Ballymahon FC and Paddy Conway, Longford Town FC for ensuring all venues were well prepared to ensure smooth running of competitions. Many thanks also to Tony Cousins who attended the Finals at Flancare Park and made presentations to the winners.
